Junior Soccer

Whyalla Wanderers Soccer & Social Club proudly runs the largest junior soccer program in Whyalla, providing opportunities for children and young people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds to participate in the game in a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Our junior program focuses on much more than football skills. We aim to help young players develop teamwork, confidence, coordination, discipline, and a lifelong enjoyment of sport, while ensuring sessions remain fun, safe, and age-appropriate. Wanderers is proud to have the most qualified and accredited junior coaches for our sport in town, supporting player development at every stage.

Whyalla Wanderers fields 11 junior teams across 7 age grades, competing in Football South Australia–administered competitions. We encourage and support junior players to progress through recognised FSA development and representative pathways, including training programs and holiday clinics held at our club grounds.

Matchdays & Trainings

The junior season typically runs from late March / April through to September. Training is held once per week at our club grounds, with:

• Under 5s & Under 7s: Tuesday 4:00–5:00pm (Starting from 24th Feb 2026)

• Under 9s & Under 11s: Tuesday 5:00–6:00pm (Starting from 24th Feb 2026)

• Under 13s & Under 15s: Thursday 5:00–6:00pm (Starting from 19th Feb 2026)

• Under 17s: Tuesday & Thursday 6:00–8:00pm (with senior squad)
  

All junior matches are currently played at the Whyalla Showground Oval.

Most junior grades play on Sundays, with approximate match times determined at the start of each season based on team numbers in each age group. Typical

Sunday match times are:

• Under 5s & Under 7s: Sunday mornings at 9:30am @ the Whyalla Showground's Oval in 2026

• Under 11s: Sunday mornings at 10:20am @ the Whyalla Showground's Oval in 2026

• Under 13s: Sunday mornings at 11:15am @ the Whyalla Showground's Oval in 2026

The following grades play midweek:

• Under 15s: Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm

• Under 17s: Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm
